I grow three types of basil. From Left to Right: Sweet Basil, Thai Basil, and Lime Basil

If you haven’t figured it out already I use gardening as a stress reliever. I love everything about growing herbs in my yard. Read more about my affinity for Mint here. It’s something about cooking with the herbs that you help to nurture, right? Maybe it’s just me but I absolutely love everything about it.  Anyway, we’ve had quite a lot of rain lately and my herb garden has gotten completely out of control, I finally found some time to prune my basil plants back. Let me just say I had more than what I can handle. What is a girl to do?!?! Jar and refrigerate that’s what! If you follow these steps you can keep your fresh basil in the refrigerator up to a year.

What you need: Wide Mouth Mason Jar, Sea Salt, and Olive Oil.

Step 2: Let the Basil leaves air dry

Step 3: Let the jarring begin! Sprinkle a little sea salt in the bottom of your mason jar.

Step 4: Next, add your basil and pour olive oil over the layer and repeat until you fill the jar or you run out of basil.

Step 5: Pop in the fridge and enjoy fresh basil for the next year.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
